death, Pethado again remarries, this time to Lucinda MOORE DIXON, a sister
of Sarah Elizabeth MOORE, and widow of John Foster DIXON. Pethado and
Lucinda married on 18 Jan. 1893.

Pethado NOLEN was born in Wilson Co., Tennessee 11 April 1838; died Dec. 8th at his home in West Frankfort. He was the son of Daniel and Lucinda NOLEN, both of whom were natives of North Carolina who removed to Tennessee and later, in 1854 came to Franklin County, Illinois, where they moved to a farm in Crawford's Prairie. Pethado enlisted in the Union Army in 1861 and served until 1865. He was in Sherman's March to the Sea and took part in the Grand Review in Washington. He first married Sarah E. MOORE in 1860; she died in 1882. There was born to this union ten children, Dwight, who died in infancy, William, Hugh, Mrs. Floyd TA"YLOR, Daniel, Wilfred, Lewis, John, Willis and Sarah E. NOLEN. Willis preceded his father in death. In 1883 Pethado married Sarah I. NEWMAN, she died in 1893. One child, Lee NOLEN, who now lives in Sparta, blessed this union. In 1893 he married Lucinda E. DIXON (she was the former Lucinda MOORE and a sister to his first wife). Pethado was a member of the First Baptist church of West Frankfort at the time of his death.

Later it was stated that since the death of Pethado, his son, Hugh NOLEN has died, leaving as his heirs, his wife, Iva NOLEN, and children, Arlie, aged 9; Daisy, aged 7; Bertha, aged 5, and Ethel NOLEN, aged 3, all of Benton, Illinois.
The petitioner further states that Minerva NOLEN is the wife of Willie NOLEN; that Lucy is the wife of Dan NOLEN; that Anna NOLEN is the wife of Wilfred NOLEN; that Cora NOLEN is the wife of John NOLEN; that Sue NOLEN is the wife of Lee NOLEN; that Maggie NOLEN is the wife of Lewis NOLEN; and that Floyd TAYLOR is the husband of Dora TAYLOR. That the widow, Lucinda E. NOLEN has remarried and is now Lucinda E. MOODY. That Lucy DEPRIEST is the mother of Oran NOLEN, aged 13 on 22 January 1918 and that Oran has about $150 in cash in the hands of your petitioner and a 1/9th interest in the land.

She is survived by her husband, Edwin D. Jackson of Spanish Fork andhertwo children, Reggie Lynn Jackson (Kathy), Coleville, Washington;andJeannine Jackson Baker (Dean), Clearfield, Utah; one brother, JackIngram(Collen), Nephi; four sisters, Connie Shepherd (late, Homer),SpanishFork; Norma York (Doug), Payson; Patsy Lofgran (Gene), Payson;and DeeAnna Fisher (Frank), Spanish Fork. She was preceded in death byherparents Angus and Ada Ingram of Nephi and one great-grandson, JesseD.Byington of Layton.

it is still unclear as to which Michael is his father. Since it was
stated in Michael Waldrop Senior's records that he had re-located
from Laurens to Spartanburgh county by 1786, that I have placed
this James with this Michael.   I have not ruled out that it also
could be the younger Michael, although based on when the
younger Michael first owned land, and the year of birth of James,
it is unlikely.

that about 10 or 11 years ago, Michael Waldrop and some of his sons came to his house
bringing an obligation [bond] of a certain Rolley Bowing to make the said Waldrop a
Title to a tract of land where his son James Waldrop now liveth, asking Lindsay [a judge]
if the obligation was sufficent.  Lindsay said it was sufficient. Charles Saxon, J.P.
Note: This is the first mention of James Waldrop, as a son of Michael Waldrop.  Also
known to have "other" sons.

Affidavit: James Waldrop on oath sayeth that Michael Waldrop [Sr?] and Rolley
Bowing being in Partnership in taking up certain tracts of land adjacent the
Mounting Shoals of Enoree River, after some time Michael Waldrop [Sr?] purchased
said Bowing's part of said tracts...He further sayeth that he saw Rolley Bowing give
Michael Waldrop a obligation for 500 pounds old current money ...later when Michael
Waldrop
asked concerning the right or Title, Bowing replied that it was Lost and that
Michael Waldrop might have his Right of the Whole tract if he would give one of the
calfs  ___? and Heifer, to which Michael Waldrop gave a cow and calf as full satisfaction.

ST. PETERSBURG, Fla. -- John T. Westbrook, 79, was promoted on March29,2001, and is now with the Lord. A son of the late Harry and Alva (Skaggs) Westbrook, he was born Nov.14,1921, in Alton. The former Alton resident enlisted with the U.S. Marinesimmediatelyfollowing Pearl Harbor and served four years. He laterenlisted with theMarine Reserves for another four years and servedactive duty during theKorean War. He was honorably discharged as astaff sergeant. He loved hiscountry, family and freedom. Surviving are his widow, Helen; and two brothers, Harvey WestbrookofRiverside, Calif. and Paul Westbrook of Millstadt. Six sisters, Rose, Frances, Alva, Thelma, Betty and Eva and twobrothers,Robert and William, preceded him in death. Memorial graveside services will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday atUpperAlton Cemetery, where his ashes will be interred by his parents.He willbe missed. Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home of St. Petersburg was in chargeofarrangements.
