Murchinson of the county of Henderson and state of Texas for and in consideration of the sum of five and 87/100 dollars to me in hand paid by Mary Martin of county and state aforesaid have this day bargained sold and released, and do by these presents bargain, sell, and release unto said Mary Martin her heirs or assigns forever all my right, title, and interest in and to a certain piece or parcel of land situated in county and state aforesaid on the waters of Kickapoo creek containing three hundred and twenty acres & known as the Reuben Jones survey; the same having been deeded to me by A.J. Rice; assessor and collector of Henderson County by deed of date 21 September 1863 and recorded in record of deeds; book C, Page 7; and the consideration above mentioned being tax due on said land for year 1861 together with the lawful percent on the same & also the cost to have and to hold the same to her; the said Mary Martin; her heirs, and assigns forever hereby conveying all the right, title, interest, and claim obtained by me by virtue of said tax deed or tax purchase and hereby annuling and revoking all right and interest acquired by virtue of the same given under my hand and same using scroll for seal thius 13th day of May A.D. 1874. Henderson County, Texas Probate Minutes, Book C, page 331 May Term 1868 Mary Martin versus Heirs of George Martin, Deceased Application for Letters of Administration Now at the term of the court comes Mary Martin, surviving wife of George Martin, deceased, and makes application in writing for letters of adminstration upon the estate of her deceased husband George Martin, and it appearing to the satisfaction of the court that the requisite legal notices of the said application has been given, and there there being no opposition thereto, it is therefore ordered by the court that Mary Martin be, and she is hereby appointeda dministratrix of the estate of said George Martin, deceased, and the she give bond in the sum of two thousand dollars and qualify in 60 days.

Funeral services for Frank Kann, 91, who died Monday eve- ning at his home in Brooklyn, were held Thursday afternoon at two o'clock at Bramers funeral home in charge of the Rev. M. C. Shupe, pastor of Grace Meth- odist church. Mrs.Fred Barta- chek was organist. Interment was in I.O.O.F. cem- etery with the following grand- sons serving as pallbearers: Mel- vinPrice, William Kuntz, Har- old Kann, Robert Rehfeldt, Ross Robey and Albert Dieppe. IN charge of floral arrangements were Mr. and Mrs. B.F.Hicks and Mrs. Leta Whitehead. Henry Franklin Kann was born July 7, 1865, in Michigan and died December 31, 1956, in Brook- lyn, Iowa after an illness of three months. When a young boy he accompanied his parents in a covered wagon to Missouri and later to Iowa, settling on a farm near Brooklyn. He became a member of the Methodist church at an early age. On April 15, 1886, he married Anna Belle Dunbar of Brooklyn and five children were born to the couple. He issurvived by four child- ren: William Kann, Mrs. Arthur (Pearl) Kuntz and Mrs. Ray (Mae) Robey, all of Brooklyn and Ted Kann of Grinnell. He also leaves eight grandchildren; 13 greatgrandchildren and one half-brother, John Doonan of Brooklyn. HIs wife, an infant son, two brothers and three sisters pre- ceded him in death.

A Hugh Warren was living in Nineveh, Johnson County, Indiana in 1830, listed on the federal census. His age was between 1800-1810 and his wife's between age 1810-1815.  Two male children were under 5 years of age (1825-1830).

I find a Hugh Warren again in Johnson County, Indiana in 1840, listed on the federal census. His age is between 1810-1820 (between both censuses, estimated now at 1810).  His wifes age between 1810-1820 (between both censuses, estimated to be between 1810-1815).  He now has 4 male children, 2 under 5 (1835-1840)  and 2 between 10-15 years of age (1825-1830). McEwen, ofWilliamsport; Niram, aresident of Wisconsin; Levi L., who enlisted inthe New York SouthernTier Rifles during the Rebellion and died atGeorgetown, D. 495 1897 Tioga County History Chapter 59 Part One - Wellsboro - Biographies ISRAEL MERRICK, JR., was one of the prosperous and progressivepioneersof Tioga county. Of New England ancestry, he was born in thestate ofDelaware in 1790, whither his parents, Israel Merrick, Sr.,and his wife,had removed in search of a home. Not liking the place,and having theirattention called to the inducements Morris was holdingout for settlersin Wellsboro, they came here about 1805. IsraelMerrick, Sr., was a tall,venerable looking man. He was married twice,and died April 30, 1844,aged seventy-eight years. He was buried inAnsonia cemetery. His secondwife was a sister-in-law of Justus Dartt,of Charleston township. IsraelMerrick, Jr., had three fullsisters—Margaret, who married MordecaiMoore; Mary, who married ElmerBacon, Sr., and Rebecca, who marriedDaniel Kelsey. Merrick and CharlesMoore took their parents to Arkansasover forty years ago, where theydied. Charles Moore at one timerepresented a district of Arkansas inCongress. He died of cholera manyyears ago. 496 1897 Tioga County History Chapter 59 Part One - Wellsboro - Biographies MORGAN L. BACON, M. D., was born in Charleston township, Tiogacounty,June 19, 1837, a son of Elmer and Mary Bacon. After attendingthe commonschools he became a student in the Wellsboro Academy andlater in UnionAcademy, at Academy Corners, graduating from the latterinstitution in1857. After teaching for a short time he began the studyof medicineunder Dr. Nelson Packer, of Wellsboro, which he pursueduntil 1861, whenhe enlisted as a hospital steward in the Forty-secondPennsylvaniaVolunteers, the famous Bucktail regiment, and served fourmonths. InJuly, 1863, he raised Company E, of the Thirty-fifthregiment, EmergencyMen, of which he was commissioned captain, and wasdischarged with theregiment. Dr. Bacon then began the practice of hisprofession inMansfield, remaining there five years. In 1868 h moved toBlossburg,where he practiced until 1870, and then became the physicianof theMorris Run Coal Mining Company at Morris Run, where he practicedtwoyears. In 1872 he located in Wellsboro, and for the pasttwenty-fiveyears has continued in the active duties of his profession,being to-dayone of the oldest practitioners in the borough. OnNovember 30, 1863, Dr.Bacon married Eva Bailey, a daughter of John W.Bailey, and has threechildren, viz: John E., a physician of Buffalo;Dana S., a real estatedealer of Model City, New York, and Morgan L., amedical student in theBuffalo University. Dr. Bacon is recognized as askillful and successfulphysician and stands high in his profession. Hewas a member of thepension board under Cleveland’s firstadministration and is secretary ofthe present pension board of Tiogacounty. He is also the local surgeonof the Fall Brook Railroad Companyand has built up a large and lucrativepractice. In politics, he is astanch Democrat, has served as a schooldirector for thirteen years,and is the present health officer ofWellsboro.
