7001 | MARRIAGE: Hi Cal: I thought I'd pass on the information that Daddy's sister, AdaLoreneJordan Davis Vann died Tuesday, August 2, 1999 in Cleveland, Texas. Graveside services were held Saturday, August 7, at Ryan Cemetery in Cleveland. Lorena has been ill with Alzheimer's for 2-3 yearsalthoughthey thought she was doing well physically. I asked her daughter whatcausedher death and she said she just went to sleep and didn't wake up so Idon'tknow what they will determine was the actual cause. I downloaded your gedcom from your Warren webpage the other day.Inoticed that you show Daddy's brother's birthdate as June 2, 1926. Actually, itwas June 29, 1926. That's also the day their mother died. I justthoughtI'd mention it while it's in my head. I've written Tim Cox to see if we may be researching the same fol grandmother's side of the family. Her mother was a Cox connected tothe Rountrees of Goochland Co., VA. My great grandmother had abrotherOrren. We seem to have a lot of the same information. That's all the news I have for now. I hope you enjoyed your tripwithyour family. It's really hot here. 102 officially today but 104 on ourdeckat 3:30. I'm ready for fall. 7003 | MARRIAGE: I am not yet convinced that this William Perry Despain or WilliamJosephDespain are both sons of Peter and Nancy [Skaggs] Despain. A couple of items that I haven't seen in Despain genealogy isduplicatefirst names of children. If this information is proven to be correct, then we have two"identical"first name children: 1.) William Joseph Despain, born 19 March 1813 in Green County,Kentucky(Various sources, but the Despain Log Cabin is one) 2.) William Perry Despain, born 2 August 1837 in Green County,Kentucky(again, the Despain Log Cabin is one source) I have not found William Perry DeSpain, son of Peter DeSpain (andagranddaughter), in records that I have gone through, but apparently others have. Those that have come across thisrecordstate that as a minor child, Wiliam D. Skaggs, who was magistrate of Green County, Kentucky and the child's uncle, wasmadehis Guardian. (William D. Skaggs would have been a first cousin, as WilliamDavidSkaggs was the son of David Skaggs) Only one other item that I would hope could be clarified, again, becauseI have not accessed the information. William Perry Despain is listed as born 2 August 1837 in GreenCounty,Kentucky (Rev. War pension abstracts indicate this, although I haven't seen or found a written account of thispensionabstract). His death record has his birth date as 6 August 1832, again I haven't seen or found a written account of thedeathrecord, for all to interpret. Now that I have talked some about William Perry Despain, I move ontoWilliam Joseph Despain. I know even less about him, then I do about William Perry Despain. Anyone haveanyinformation that can support that William Joseph Despain is the son of Peter Despain. I believe some oftheNebraska Despains had kept family bibles, but I am not sure of this. | Family: William Perry Despain / Elisha Warren (F15899)

7021 | MARRIAGE: Laurens and Spartanburg Counties were part of the 96th district, created in 1769. Laurens County, SC was created in 1785, from the 96th district. Spartanburg County, SC was also created in 1785, from the 96th district. From the e-mail correspondence of Joyce Moore: About Richard Michael Waldrop, I came across that in a court documentin Maury Co., Tennessee. Michael Jr. got into a fight with someone or something and I guess the whole family got involved. At one point the papers refer to him as Richard Michael Waldrip. I thought it was a fantastic find. Thereis a Richard Waldrop in Laurens Co., S.C.. I think that is significant and bears looking into. I feel that he was some kin. If Richard Michael Waldrop was born about 1774-1775, as some records suggest, then he most likely would have been still living with his father in 1790 & possibly the 1800 census.
