8645 | Notes for JOSEPH SKAGGS: Joseph was born during a time in our past, that was very historical. It was just one year before he was born that the Second Continental Congress declared our freedom from Britain with the Declaration of Independence, on July 4, 1776. Which ment that Joseph was born during the Revoltionary War. After the war there were only the Thirteen Colonies and a vast area of land in the west that was the home to few white men and many Indians. George Washington was the president and our country would never be the same. It would expand and grow into one of the most powerful and respected lands anywhere. At this time little is known about Joseph and his life. He was married twice and had 12 children to my knowledge. He lived and went to Church in the Greenbrier county area. He is even listed as one of the founding members of the Greenbrier Baptist Church that is still standing today. Around 1825 Joseph and his family moved West. They ended up in Henry County, Indiana where he and his wife Margaret farmed and lived out the rest of their lives. At the time of his death Joseph was quite a succesful man judgeing by the size of his will. You must remember that in the 1830's when he died $10.00 was allot of money. To this date also we do not know where Joseph and Margaret are buried. They lived and died around Dudly Township in Henry County, Ind. But at this time the graves have not been found. Last will and Testament Henry County Ind. 8647 | Notes: Likely from Guadalcazar, San Luis Potosi, where daughter Andrea was born. Antonio Requena also had a son, Onecimo Requena, born about 1905. Another Onecimo Requena, originally from San Luis Potosi, but living in Guemez, had a son named Juan Requena, born 1905 in Guemez. This Onecimo was 40 years of age in 1905, placing his birth year around 1865. Likely a brother, since Antonio Requena also had a son named Onecimo Requena, as it was not a very common name. It is highly likely that Antonio was not baptized, and likely that he was born when his mother died ca November 1865. Civil records for this timeframe are not available for Guadalcazar and Pozos. | Requena, Antonio (I134963)
