- MARRIAGE: JOHN ELKIN FAMILY John Elkin, merchant, "2nd Colony (inhabitants of Bristol, Exeter and Plymouth), I show only one son, Ralph Elkin b ca 1636 in England, he came to Virginia in 1657 and then returned to England and then came back to Virginia in 1661 to York Co., Va., and with his sons Richard and Ralph, Jr. became the founders of the Elkins family in Va. He was married to a Miss Ashton. His land was in what was known then as Tide Water, Va. His occupation was that of a gentleman. He received agrant of land in York Co., from Governor Francis Morgan. The Elkin Family later moved in Westmoreland and King George Counties. His Revolutionary services have been accepted many times by the Daughtersof the American Revolution for man of his descendants.
