Antonio Jose Velazquez, 34, espaRo4 single, was the legitimate son of Juan Esteban
Velazquez and Juana Teresa Valverde, citizens of La Cuchilla in the Santa Clara jurisdiction. Maria
de Jesus Quintana, 23, espanola, single, was the legitimate daughter of Francisco Quintana and
Rosa Trujillo. citizens of Abiquiu. The couple was related in the fourth degree of consanguinity on a
transverse line. They stated that they were related to most of the people of their station in the area.
They asked that the p~ocecdings be focwarded to Maria de Jesus>s parish priest, Father Alcina.
Antonio Jose Vebizquez stated that he was a life-long resident of that jurisdiction. Through his hard
work he could support his intended.

In Abiquiu, Father Alcina questioned Maria de Jesus Quintana who noted that she was
getting older.

On 16 June 1807. Father Alcina forwarded the proceedings to Durango. On 9 Septem~er,
Vicar General Millan Rodriguez. noting angu!li loti, honuli!fal11ili!, and the poverty of the female
petitioner. granted the dispensation.

1. In Santa Fe on 27 November 1773. Antonio Jose. the legitimate son of Juan Esteban
Velazquez and Juana Teresa Baldonado, was baptized. His godparents were Jose Francisco Ortiz
and Maria Apolonia.

2. In San Juan Pueblo on 19 January 1784, Father Ramon Antonio Gonzilez baptized
Maria de Jesus, born on 18 January, the legitimate daughter of Francisco Quintana and Rosa
Trujillo, citizens of Cham ita. Her godparents were Inocencio Martinez and Ana Gregoria Vigil,
citizens of Chama.
