- Funeral services for Charlie Parrott Dearen, 53 years of age, were held Sunday, May 21 at 2 p.m. from the Palestine Baptist Church with the Rev. D. L. Druien in charge, assisted by the Rev. Sam Conners and Rev. T. S. Curry. Burial was in Brookside Cemetery. Mr. Dearen, son of the late Bud and Betty Parrott Dearen, was born in Taylor County April 23, 1897. He died at his home on Spurlington Road Friday, May 19 at 2:45 p.m. He had been in ill health for the past year. He professed faith in Christ at an early age in life and was a member of the Palestine Baptist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Ora Lee St. Clair on July 5, 1923 and to this union one son and two daughters were born. Surviving are Carolyn Dearen and Mrs. Gene Rice, both at home. Besides wife and children, he is survived by two sisters and two brothers, Mary Dearen of Birmingham, Ala.; Sadie Dearen and George Dearen, both of Taylor County and Billie Dearen of Bardstown; also several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. Pallbearers were Tyler and H. T. Parrott, Mack, R.P., and Willian VanCleave, and Perry Lee Hicks. Honorary bearers were Rodger Parrott, Esco Stapp, Sam Whitlock, Elmer Davidson, Gurves Whitlock, Truman Henson, Dr. C. V. Hiestand, Ray Rice, Ray Borders, Gene Blakey, and Everett Kerr. ~The News-Journal, Thursday, May 25, 1950
