Services for Lucille A. Ray will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 19,atTerpening & Son Chapel. The Rev. J. Mark Robinson will officiate.Burialwill be at Twin Oaks Memorial Park. Ray, 91, passed away Monday, Sept. 16, at Eastern New MexicoMedicalCenter, Roswell. Pallbearers will be grandsons and great-grandsons: Rocky Ray, LukeRay,Randy Taylor, Allen Melton, Chris Sneed and Josh Sneed. Alsoserving areCody Taylor, Christopher Ray, Dustin Ray, Allen DaleMelton, Luke AdamRay, Joseph Ray, Hunter Ray and Michael Kirk. Visitation begins at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 18, at Terpening &SonMortuary. Ray was born March 10, 1911, in High Rolls, to William Newton WaldripandBetty Nelson Waldrip. She married Luke Adam Ray Feb. 17, 1932,inRoswell. He preceded her in death Aug., 18, 1964. She was alifetimeArtesia resident. She was a housewife and Salutatorian of hergraduatingclass in Lake Arthur. She was a member of West Main BaptistChurch andhad been active at the Artesia Senior Center. Survivors include: one daughter, Betty Jane Taylor and husband RayofArtesia; one daughter-in-law, Billie Ray of Roswell; one sister,BessieLeaf of Artesia; seven grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren;threegreat-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a son, LarryRay,on Feb. 3, 1999; sisters Helen Knight, Gladys Golden and RubyNorris; andby a brother, W. H. Waldrip.
