COOLIDGE - Howard Sylvester Waldrip, 80, of Phoenix died June 11, 2003 at Hospice of the Valley Thunderbird.
Visitation began at 2 p.m. Thursday at Simes Mortuaries Coolidge Chapel. The graveside service followed in Valley Memorial Park, conducted by Byron Banta and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Waldrip was born April 21, 1923 in Hope, N.M., the son of Emma (Frisbee) and Riley Waldrip. He was an Army veteran of World War II and served in the Normandy invasion. He was an electrician and worked for San Carlos Irrigation Project before retirement. He enjoyed hunting and traveling throughout the country. He was devoted to his family, enjoyed being with them and always stayed in touch with them. He was Baptist and lived in Arizona since 1939.
Survivors include a sister, Zylpha Ames of Buckeye, a niece and six nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean.
