"Know all men by these presents that I, Samuel Compton of the Co. of
Hopkins and State of Ky., have nominated, constituted, and appointed
Wm. R. Wier of said Co. and State, my true and lawful Attorney for me,
and in my name and stead to apply to and receive from the legal
representatives of William Christian, deceased, and and all monies
to which I may be entitled in right of my wife Martha, late Martha
McCorkle, niece and devisee of James McCorkle, deceased, on account
of a debt originally due and owing by the said William Christian and
James McCorkle, who were partners in trade to a certain Alexander
Donald of the Kingdom of Great Britain and which has been collected
of the individual estate of the said McCorkle since the death of the said
Christian and McCorkle, herby vesting my saide Attorney with full
power and authority to do all and every act and acknowledge in the
premises towards recovering ??? for me, proportion of said demand,
which I could legally do were I to attend to the same in person.
Ratifying and confirming whatever my said Attorney shall so do in as
full and effectual a manner as if done by myself in Person.
