- Mrs. Melissa "Beamie" Hudgins, 79, daughter of the late Mr. Powell Scott and Mrs. Louise Gaddie Scott, was born March 9, 1895, in Taylor County and departed this life at 8:10 p.m. Monday, July 29, 1974, at the Methodist Hospital in Louisville. She had made a profession of faith in Christ and was a member of the Taylor Chapel Methodist Church at the time of her death. She united in marriage to Mr. Sollie Hudgins,May 5, 1918,and he preceded her in death May 4, 1963. To this union were born one son and one daughter: Linzy Hudgins and Mrs. Elam Creason, both of Louisville. Also surviving are two sisters: Mrs. Henrietta Shaw, Summersville, and Mrs. Ella Hudgins, Magnolia; one brother: Alvin Scott, Summersville; one granddaughter: Mrs. Lowayne Hodge, Louisville; three great-grandchildren: Dana Lynn, James Patrick, and Stacy Marie Hodge, all of Louisville. The remains were at the Cowherd & Parrott Funeral Home where funeral services were conducted at 10 a.m. (CDT) Thursday, August 1, with burial in the Aetna Grove Cemetery. Revs. Otis Skaggs and Ferreill Gardner officiated.Pallbearers: Chess Hall, David Marcum, Carl Shaw, Owen Hodge, Kenneth Murphay, and Ray Wright.
