Jack Edward Hurley was born in Denver, Idaho on July 22, 1910,toFlorence Leona Morris Hurley and Jacob Lafayette Hurley. He diedinAustin, Texas on Thursday, July 15, 2004. He retired from the Navyas aCommander after 28 years, and was a member of the Silver Eagles.Hegraduated from the University of Texas in Austin with a BA inBusinessAdministration in 1962 and worked for, then retired from, UTSystem. Hewas a member of the Ben Hur Shrine, a life time member of UTExes, and anactive golfer and bowler. Jack was married for 61 years toDorothy PearlCoon Hurley, until her death on July 29, 1999. He issurvived by fourchildren, Donald Barry Hurley of Round Rock, TX,Kathleen LorraineRylance of McDade, Texas, Ruth Marie Nightingale ofWinnipeg, Manitoba,Canada, and Gay Lynice Cook of Smithville, TX. Hehas nine grandchildrenand 14 great-grandchildren. The family willreceive friends from 6:00 to8:00 p.m., Sunday, July 18, 2004, atCook-Walden Funeral Home . Funeralservices will be held at 1:00 p.m.,Monday, July 19, 2004, in theColonial Chapel of Cook-Walden FuneralHome with Reverend Don Longofficiating. Interment will follow atAssumption Cemetery.
