- Velma Pfendler SIDNEY � Velma Tomblinson Pfendler died on Saturday, Aug. 7, 1999,at herhome on 3 Pearl St., Sidney.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1915, in Ashbyburg, Ky. She was the daughterofCharles Hector and Frances Elizabeth Luck Tomblinson.
"Teena" was a longtime resident of Sidney with an exuberant interestinchildren, the community, her family and friends.
Velma is survived by her sons, Francis W. Mettrick of New York and JanC.Mitrzyk Sr. of Connecticut. Also surviving are her grandchildren,Jan C.Mitrzyk Jr., Christopher J. Mitrzyk and Felicia D. MitrzykVitale; theirmother, Mrs. Edna Brooks and her husband, Walter Brooks,of Unadilla; andher great-grandson, Justin Vitale, all of Connecticut.She is alsosurvived by her sister, Elizabeth Robertson of Oxford.
She was predeceased by her husbands, Francis W. Mettrick and DonaldL.Pfendler.
Calling hours will be held on Thursday, Aug. 12, 1999, between 7 p.m.and9 p.m. at the C.H. Landers Funeral Home, 21 Main St., Sidney.
In place of flowers, contributions may be made to the SidneyPublicLibrary to the children's center in memory of "Teena's "lifelong joy andinterest in children.
