Marilyn R. Schmidt, 67, of Chicago, IL passed away at a local hospital due to a heart attack. Marilyn relocated to Phoenix in 1947 with parents Frank (Giza) and Bernice (Matlack) & older brother Richard (Dick).She was a devout Catholic who graduated from St. Mary's Elementary school and St. Mary's H.S. in Downtown Phoenix. Marilyn met a terrific guy, Richard in 1957 and celebrated the vows of Marriage at St. Gregory's church in Phoenix in 1959.Then came their only son "Ricky" in 1961, who had a great nuclear family with 2 of the most terrific role models a child could ever expect. Marilyn's presence was always fun and full of happiness even during her 2 bouts of cancer with aggressive radiation and chemotherapy. Marilyn always put everyone first before her. Marilyn is preceded in death by her father Frank, whom passed away in 1989. She is survived by her mom Bernice, 95; a loving husband of 49 years Richard; son Richard (Ricky) and his wife Melanie of 25 years; 3 beautiful Granddaughters Ashley-Rose (Derek), Lizzy (Eric) with a beautiful soon to be born great-grandson Gage Alexander, all of Peoria; Kristy (James), their 3 beautiful sons; Brandon, Dylan and Tyler, all of Mesa and Kenny of New Jersey. Brother Dick, many Close brother and sister-in-laws, cousin, nephews, nieces, cousins and many great friends. Visitation will be held at Best Funeral Services, Inc. 501 E. Dunlap Ave. on February 4, 2009 5:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. with a 10:00 a.m. Funeral Mass to be held at St. Gregory's Catholic Church on February 5, 2009 with Burial to follow at St. Francis Cemetery. Beautiful mother, no more aches and pains and woes, no more cancer! No more chemotherapy! Celebrate and dance with joy with Jesus our father in paradise! You now have wings, be happy, be with Jesus, I always know you are with us, we will always love you and cherish you, angel kisses to you in heaven.
