Roland John Colony Obit:
Roland John Colony, who form many years resided at 406 Seventh Street, Huntingdon, died in the J. C. Blair Memorial Hospital on Thursday afternoon March 15, 1945, after a short illness.
Mr. Colony for a number of years conducted the fixit Shop on Seventh Street.
He was born in Janesvell, Wis., on June 12, 1864, and was the son of George Colony, Bradford County, and Charlotte Noble Colony of New York State. He was the youngest of 12 children, none of whom survive. In the early part of the nineteenth century his parents moved to Chicago where his father became a prominent building contractor.
He attended school in his native town and at an early age engaged in pionereing in the West.
He had many an interesting stroy to tell about his frontier experiences.
In 1902 he was united in marriage to Mrs. Ida Hoop, daughter of Jacob and Isabelle Barnick. After their marriage they went to Chicago where they resided until moving to Huntingdon. Mrs. Colony died on December 15 1931.
He is survived by his step-daughter Mrs. Paul Ray of Los Angeles, Calif., and by several nieces and nephews.
Mr. Colony was a member of the Masonic Fraternity and of the Independent Order of Odd Fellows. He attended Abbey Evangelical and Reformed Church.
The funeral service will be conducted by the Rev. Hobart D. McKeehan at 2 p.m. on Sunday at Browns funeral home. Interment will be made in Riverview Cemetery.
