- James O. Garner Obituary
James Oliver Garner, age 83, of Artesia, N.M., formerly of Arkansas, died Monday
in his home at 807 Mann Ave. He was born May 26, 1892 in Arkansas and
married Vay Brown on March 15, 1913 in Dardanelle. They moved to Cottonwood
area in 1930. He was a farmer and a member of the Eighth and Grand Church of
Christ.
Survivors include his wife, Vay; one son, Robert Garner of Hobbs; on daughter,
Mrs Paul Zeleny of Artesia: eight brothers Lee Garner, of Junction City, Ore.,
Virgil Garner of Detroit, Mich., Ira Garner of Roswell, Dugan Garner of Artesia,
Walter Garner and Denver Garner of Carlsbad, and Wendell Garner of Arlington,
Tex.; three sisters, Mrs. Jessie Wood of Artesia; Mrs. Hattie Wood and Mrs
Lillian Rounsaville both of Dardanelle: seven grandchildren and 18
great-grandchildren.
Mr. Garners brothers served as pallbearers. Funeral service were Wednesday at
Eighth and Grand Church of Christ with Wayne McDonald officiating. Burial was
in Restlawn Memorial Park.
