- DAVIS Thomas M. Davis, Sr, age 85, passed away Tuesday, July 19, 2011 at Riverside Methodist Hospital.
He was born October 15, 1925 in Gallipolis, Ohio, to the late Cleveland Wesley Davis and Aletha Chick
Davis. He graduated from Gallia Academy High School. At age 17, he joined the Navy V5 program and
served our country in World War II. After his service, he graduated from The Ohio State University with
a degree in commerce (business). While at Ohio State, he was a member of Beta Theta Pi Fraternity.
After retiring from General Motors Acceptance Corporation, he attended "Program 60" at OSU, became
a member of the Faculty Club, and an Advocate for The Ohio State University. He was an avid football fan
and had season books for some fifty years. He also enjoyed mixed doubles tennis during his winters in
Florida. He is a member of Covenant Presbyterian Church in Upper Arlington. He is survived by his wife,
June; son, Dr. Thomas M. (Marilyn) Davis, Jr.; granddaughter, Alexa Davis; grandson, Thomas M. Davis III; brother, Don Davis; brother-in-law, Vic Ciancetta; and many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death
by brother Gerald (Jean) Davis of Atlanta, sister Jean (Verne) Bates of Oakland, New Jersey, and
sister-in-law Dorothy Ciancetta.
Memorial service will be held at 4 p.m, Saturday, July 23, 2011 at SCHOEDINGER NORTHWEST CHAPEL, 1740 Zollinger Rd, where family will receive friends from 3 p.m. until time of service. Rev. James Mehler officiating. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to HomeReach Hospice, 3595 Olentangy River Road, Columbus, Ohio 43214-4034.
