Mrs. Bettie Hatcher, daughter of Isaac and Missouri Ingram, died in this county
Sunday, May 15th, 1927. She was born Nov. 22, 1860, being 66 years, 5 months,
and 23 days old. She professed faith in Christ at the age of 14 and joined the Gilead
Baptist Church, of which she was a life-long member. She was married to William
Hatcher in 1878. To this union were born 6 children, 2 dying in infancy. She is
survived by her devoted husband, Mr. William Hatcher; four children, Mrs. A. C.
Moss, Mrs. Richard Gaines, Messrs. Joshua and Overton Hatcher; four sisters,
Mrs. John P. Cook, Mrs. Haywood Mitchell, Mrs. Willie Cornelison, and
Mrs. Robert Henry; two brothers, Messrs. William and Mack Ingram; and nine
grandchildren. Mrs. Hatcher was a patient, loving Christian character, a devoted
wife and mother, and beloved sister. Her many friends are sad because she leaves
them, but rejoice with the bereaved in the hope and victory that was hers. The
funeral services were conducted at Hogard's Chapel Church by Rev. J. R. Marrs,
and burial in the church cemetery.
