Pitts Elmore 1988 Excerpt follows: A deed filed in September 1809 (Book I, pp. 270-271), which transferred land from Stephen's son Mathias II "to my beloved son William, for love and affection", stated the land was part of a grant to Mathias I in 1765; later sold to his grandson Samuel Dennis, who in turn sold to Stephen Elmore, who "died Intestate", at which time the land was inherited by son Mathias II.
