Witnesses Michael Waldrop, Sr., James Lindsey and James? Attaway. Lease and release. James Lindsey swore he was a witness before John Lindsey, JP on 9 May 1782. Deed recorded 10 Aug 1792. This indenture made this eighth day of August in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred & seventy five and in the fourteenth year of his Majesty Reign George the Third of Great Britain, France and Ireland King defender of the faith. Between Michael Purkle o?? Enoree River in County in Province of South Carolina & District of Ninety Six of the one part and John Waldrop of the same State & Province aforesaid of the other part. Witnesseth that for & in consideration of one peppercorn to the said Michael Purkle in hand well & truly paid before the signed, sealed & delivery of these presents doth bargain, & sell? unto John Waldrop one tract of one hundred acres of land situate on the Enoree River the said land was granted unto the said Michael Pirkle which said one hundred acres of adjoining Rawley Bowings land on the lower side & the other side on the said River and is now by these presents fully granted released & released unto the said John Waldrop with all out houses, gardens orchards ways, passages, woods & under woods ??? lakes, fishing whatsoever, with the reversion, rents, ??? & profits to have and to hold the said tract of one hundred acres of land ???tation with every the premises & appurtinances thereunto belonging ?? his heirs & assigns from the day of date of these presents & next before the day of the date of these presents for & during & end of term of one whole year next ensuing & fully to be compleated & ended before unto the said Michael Pirkle the rent of Pepper corn if the ??? shall be lawfully demanded to the intent & purpose that by ??? & by four of the statute for transforming into possession, he the said John Waldrop may be in the actual possession of all & singular the presents above mentioned of every the premises thereunto belonging & ??? may the better enable to be made & day next before the day ??? the date of these presents. This indenture made this ninth day of August one thousand seven hundred & seventy five and in the fourteenth year of his Majesties reign. Between Michael Pirkle & Barbary his wife in St. Marks Parish in the province of South Carolina & county of Craven & district of Ninety Six mill wright of the one part & John Waldrop of same county & province & district aforesaid & both of settlement of the Enoree. Whereas in & by a certain grant bearing date the (blank) day of (blank) Right Honorable Lord (blank) then being Capt. General & Governor and the Great seal of the Province for that purpose was appointed did give, ??? acres situate lying on the Enoree on the lower side of a tract of land ??? to first station W. O the second red O. to the corner red oak on the first ??? first station on the second line the Nth a Pine to lightwood stump. Thence ??? Bowens line to the River, down the said River to the Beginning and hath such shape form & marks as appears to the original grant annexed and by the said Platt & grant duly recorded in the secretaries office in book (blank) ??? will more fully appear. And the said plantation or tract of land of one hundred acres to Michael Pirkle was granted and the said Michael Pirkle have bargained & sold unto John Waldrop for and in consideration of the sum of one hundred pounds current money of the Province aforesaid to him in hand well & truly paid by the said John Waldrop before the sealing & delivery of these presents the receipt whereof is hereby acknowledged & be well contented, satisfied, paid. Have granted, bargained & sold & by these presents doth bargain, sell, set-over & convey, alien, remise, release & converate & discharge & confirm unto the said John Waldrop in his actual possession now being by virtue of a bargain & sale to him thereof made for one whole year, and form of the statute for transferring user into possession ??? and to his heirs & assigns forever one hundred of land the bound thereof being before mentioned in the bargain & sale mentioned for one whole year now and confirmed by these presents & by force of the statute together with all & singular the houses, edifises, buildings, woods & underwoods, meadows, pastures, ponds, lakes, fishing, water courses, passages, liberties, profits, rights, heriditaments & appurtenances whatsoever hereunto belonging or in any way appertaining, and the Reversion & Reversions, remainder & remainders to Riversions, remainders, rents, issues? & profits, benefits, claim & demand whatsoever of him the said Michael Pirkle & Barbary his wife into or out of the ??? premises and all evidences, escripts, & writings whatsoever touching or concerning the premises. To have and to hold the same plantation or tract of one hundred acres of land as aforesaid with every the premises & herein before granted released & conveyed unto the said John Waldrop his heirs & assigns forever to the only proper use & behoof of him the said John Waldrop his heirs & assigns forever and then the Said Michael Pirkle & Barbary his wife doth hereby for themselves their heirs executors administrators & assigns the said Michael Pirkle & Barbary his wife & their heirs, executors, administrators & assigns in manner & form following that the said Michael Purkle now is & until the executing of these presents shall stand seized of a good and indefeasable estate of inheritance in fee simple of the aforesaid one hundred acres of land the rights, members & appurtenances without any condition, trust mortgage, judgement, execution or any incumberance to alter change or defear or determine the same, and also that the said John Waldrop his heirs & assigns shall & from time to time & at all times hereafter peaceably, quietly possess & enjoy the said plantation of one hundred acres with every the premises & appurtenances thereunto belonging without any manner of trouble, hindrance, ???olutation, interruption or denial of the said Michael Purkle & Barbary his wife or their heirs & every person or persons whatsoever claiming or to claim by from or under them. And lastly the said Michael Pirkle & Barbary his wife or their heirs executors administrators or assigns the said plantation or tract of one hundred acres of land with the premises & appurtenances unto the said John Waldrop his heirs & assigns against him the said John Waldrop his heirs & assigns and all & every other person or persons whatsoever shall & will Warrant & forever defend by these presents. Petty Pool on Enoree River, 100 acres for ten shillings. Actual Text -
Transcribed by Noble Acker.-CW This indenture made the 18th day of July in
the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and eighty eight and in the
twelvth year of our Independence of the United States of America between
John Waldrop and of the County of Laurens and State of South Carolina of
the one part and Seth Petty Pool of the County & State aforesaid of the other
part Witnesseth that the said John Waldrop for and in consideration of the
sum of ten shillings lawful money to him in hand well and truely paid by the
Seth P. Pool aforesaid before the sealing and delivery of these presents the
right whereof is hereby acknowledged and well contented satisfied and paid
to the said John Waldrop hath bargained sold & by these preence doth bargain
and sell unto the said Seth Petty Pool all that Plantation or tract of land
containing one hundred acres formally granted to James Waldrop Sr. and
conveyed by him to John Waldrop lease and release bearing date the twenty
sixth and twenty seventh of January 1787. A memorial thereof being entered
in the Clerks office and being order book page 168 recorded in Book B, page
183 perference thereto may be more fully situated lying and being on the South
side of Enoree River, bounded north by river, south by Luke Waldrop land on
the other sides by vacant land stake such as in form and marks as may appear by
the plat of the original grant ordered to this with all and singular the houses,
gardens, orchards and road and timber trees meadows, pastures, ponds, lakes,
fishing ways water of watercourses, paths, passages, liberties throughout
revisions remainders rents ...profits of to have and to hold the plantation and
tract as affirmed unto with the premises and appurtenances thereto belonging
unto the said Seth Petty Pool, his heirs, exects, adm, assigns from the day next
before the day of the date of these presents for and during and unto the full end
and term of one whole year from thence next emuity? and fully to be complete
and ended yeilding paying therefore the said John Waldrop the part of one pepper
corn on the last day of the said term of these presents therefore of the statues for
transforming of and into possession he the said Seth Petty Pool may be in actual
possession of all and singular the premisses above mentioned and be thereby to
better enable to take the promise the premises and inheritances thereof which is
intended to be to him and his been granted and released by the said John Waldrop
by another indenture intended to be made and dated the day next after the day of
the date thereof. In witness thereof the said John Waldrop hath presents to these
presents his hand and affixed his seal the day and year above written.

Brooks. Here of Seth Petty Pool the just sum of ten shillings being the
consideration sum for the within Plantation or tract of 100 acres of land I say on
this 18th day of July 1788. John Waldrop.
[See above grant. Notice also that this John Waldrop, had a wife named Elizabeth.
None of Luke's sons or grandsons appear to have had a wife named Elizabeth. The
only John with wife Elizabeth is John Waldrop b.ca. 1745 d. ca. 1810 Christian
Co., KY. and Elizabeth. The importance of this is that John Waldrop's father was
a James Waldrop who was granted land in Laurens Co., SC. 1772 and that James
SR. is unidentified at this time.]

Release for the conveyance of 100 acres of land from John Waldrop to Seth
Petty Pool. Acknowledged in open court & ordered to be Recorded.
1788 --- Spartanburg Co., SC. 18 Sep 1788. John Waldrop against Robert and Sarah
Sterling, Admr. & Admrx. of James Elder. Case. Came the Plaintiff by Peter Carnes,
Gentleman, his attorney & the Defendant by George Walker, their attorney,
whereupon came a Jury, to wit, James Hughes, Martin Armstrong, John Hammett,
William Millican, Josiah Culbertson, Thomas silman, James Miller, Thomas Haney,
Samuel Ward, Samuel Culbertson, John Foster, Joseph Barnett ... We agree that each
party shall pay their own costs, the suit shall be discontinued ... Peter Carnes, the
Plaintiff's attorney, motioned for a new Trial.

JOHN WALDROP, JR., highest bidder for 150 acres onNorth's Creek, sold at auction
in court suit lost by MICHAEL WALDROP, Witnesses included MARY ANN
WALDROP. [Note: HLW --- William Dunlap is associated with this JOHN,
however, there is no JOHN JR. listed as a son. This brings up the question of which
record this may belong.]

hereafter exempt from paying County Levy in Christian Co., on account of
"Old Age" and "Infirmity".

packet of orders labeled: "Road From Logan To Carthage."Allotment of hands to
James Hill. County Roads Orders November term 1805. Benjamin Dunlap
appointed Surveyor of the road from Logan Lineto the Blue Lick fork of Pond
River with hands allotted to open thesaid road. Witnesses: John Waldrop,

John Waldrop deceased, made satisfactory proof to this courtthat she has settled
on 100 acres of land unappropriated land in thiscounty and made satisfactory
proof to the court that she has no estatein her own right to the value of $100
by two credible witnesses whichis ordered to be certified to the auditor.
2 May 1825 - Kentucky Land Warrant Book, Volume Q, p. 15. Joseph Desha
Esqr. Governor of the Commonwealth of KY. In consideration of Kentucky
Land Office Warrant Number 8459, there is granted by the said Commonwealth
unto Elizabeth Waldrop, 100 acres by survey bearing date 17th May 1823, Todd
County, on Pond River. Beginning at a black oak in the forks of a branch thence
north to Micajah Hall's line. Joseph Desha, by Governor, J.C., Prickett,
Secretary. Came from Surry Co.,VA.
Survey Book 2, p. 199 Christian Co., KY. Land Survey for Joseph Waldrop
Dated 17 Mar 1803. Witnessed by Joseph Waldrop and James Dunlap. This
survey was for 100 acres on the fork of Pond River. It is almost unreadable.
