• Notes

  Benjamin F. Hammond was designated the guardian of Thomas Powell, minor, in accordance with the will of Wiley Powell.  Noted on 27 January 1862, in Robertson County, Texas probate records. Benjamin F. Hammond was executor of the Wiley Powell estate. In the 1864 Robertson County, Texas court session, a petition of James A. Chamberlain and wife Mary, to become the legal guardian of Thomas Powell, a minor.  The court petition further states that Mary is the mother of Thomas and at the close of the Administration of the estate of Wiley Powell, a "considerable" property will be coming to Thomas Powell.   She obtained guardianship 26 February 1867.
