- Wayne D. Hager
Wayne D. Hager, 84, of 3020 Lexington Place, Plover, died Saturday,July8, 2006, at St. Michael's Hospital.
He was born Oct. 22, 1921, in Stevens Point to the late Earl andMarjorie(Warner) Hager. He attended Emerson High School and attendedCentralWisconsin State Teachers College in Stevens Point. He receivedhismaster's degree in education from the University ofWisconsin-Madison.
Wayne was a Tech 5 in the U.S. Army. He entered on July 1, 1944,servingin northern France, Ardennes, Rhineland and central Europe. Hereceivedthe Victory Medal, American Theater Ribbon,European-African-MiddleEastern Theater Ribbon with 4 Bronze BattleStars, 2 Overseas ServiceBars, 1 Service Stripe and Good ConductMedal. He was honorablydischarged on Nov. 21, 1945.
He was married to Helen Ekberg. She preceded him in death. Waynewasmarried to Susan Rosenkranz on June 22, 1974, in West Allis. Thecouplesettled in West Allis where he taught until 1985 moving to thePloverarea. Wayne taught at various schools throughout the state ofWisconsinteaching at Walker Middle School in Milwaukee for 29 years.He was amember of Stevens Point Area Retired Teachers Association. Heenjoyedfishing, hunting, woodworking and gardening.
Survivors include his wife, Susan Hager of Plover; five sons,David(Nancy) Hager of West Allis, Thomas (Sally) Hager of MenomonieFalls,Daniel (Diane) Hager of Minneapolis, Dean Hager of Plover andBrian(Kristen) Hager of Minneapolis; one daughter, Sandra Hager ofPewaukee;and two granddaughters.
He was preceded in death by two brothers.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday at Good ShepherdLutheranChurch, Plover, with the Rev. Kurt Hoffman officiating. Burialat a laterdate in Highland Memorial Park.
