Mildred Ann Porter, age 82, passed away Tuesday morning, September 6, 2011, at her home in Warsaw, Missouri.
She was born in Warsaw on February 19, 1929, the daughter and only child of Harold and Ethel Elizabeth Linn Lauffer. For the most part she grew up in Kansas City and graduated from East High School there.
On October 30, 1948, she was united in marriage to John R. Porter in Kansas City, Missouri. Following their marriage they made their home in Kansas City for five years. They then moved to Raytown, Missouri, and later moved to Mesquite, Texas and Spring, Texas, before returning to Warsaw in 1990.
Mildred was a member of the First Baptist Church in Warsaw. Since coming to Warsaw she had served as the church librarian and also, worked with the Clothes Closet there at the church.
She is survived by her husband, John, of the home, two sons; John A. "Andy" Porter, and his wife, Carol, of Independence, Missouri, and Mark A. Porter, and his wife, Pamela, of Dallas, Texas; one grandchild, Lynsey Porter, of Independence, several cousins, other relatives and many friends.
Cremation will be provided by the Kaysinger Crematory under the direction of the Reser Funeral Home.
Grave Side Services and Inurnment will be held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, September 10, 2011, at the Riverside Cemetery in Warsaw, with Rev. Barry Edwards officiating.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to the Library Fund of the First Baptist Church in care of the Reser Funeral Home.
