Lonnie C. Johnson April 22, 1918-May 14, 2006
Lonnie C. Johnson, 88, Parker, died Monday, May 15, 2006, in his home.
The son of Alonza C. and Ethel Lee Johnson, he was born April 22, 1918, in Mountain Park, N.M. He attended school in Kansas City, Mo.
On Oct. 12, 1946, he and Norma Lee Wright were married in Rosemond, Calif. They lived in California for a year before moving to Edgerton. They were parents of two sons. They have lived in Parker since 1962.
Mr. Johnson worked in construction most of his life and had also worked in maintenance at schools.
During World War II he served with the U.S. Army Air Force from Oct. 22, 1942, until being honorably discharged Jan. 30, 1946. He earned the rank of corporal.
He attended Faith Baptist Church in Osawatomie.
Those preceding him in death included a sister, Betty Harbison.
Survivors include his wife, Norma Johnson of the home; two sons, Lonnie W. Johnson of Marysville, Kan., and Jeffrey A. Johnson of Parker; two sisters, Vera Bybel of Independence, Mo., and Dorothy Tracht of San Diego, Calif.; nine grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren.
