Private interment is planned for Truman L. "T.L." Hoglan, alongtimeSheridan resident.
Mr. Hoglan died Wednesday, May 24, 2006, in a Portland hospice. Hewas65.
He was born Jan. 6, 1941, in Colton, the son of Judson Luther andWandaAngeline (Casier) Hoglan. He was raised and educated at variouspointsaround the Northwest.
He and Janice Lorraine Osborn married on Nov. 22, 1958, in Ojai,Calif.They settled in Sheridan.
Mr. Hoglan worked as a carpenter in the construction industry formorethan 40 years, until ill health forced his retirement. He workedinPortland for Grigsby-Todd Construction and later Grady, HarperandCarlson Construction.
He and his wife co-owned the Blunderosa Ranch in Sheridan, wheretheyraised cattle for more than 30 years. He also raced motorcyclesand cars.
In 1964, he won the 10th annual Northwest T.T. Championshipmotorcyclerace in Boise as an amateur. He then spent 13 years racingmotorcyclesprofessionally.
He hill-climbed, flat-raced and competed in various mud races.Hequalified in the National AMA Racing Series for three consecutiveyears.
In 1985, he began racing jalopies at the Portland Speedway. He alsoracedstock cars in NASCAR for seven years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by twin daughters, JonelleL.Stroup of Oregon and Janelle L. Stanton of Washington; a brother,ThomasHoglan of Kansas; four sisters, Ethel Byers and Nancy Simonek,both ofKentucky, Wanda Smith of Alaska and Rosie Hamblin ofCalifornia; fivegrandchildren and a great-grand-daughter. He waspreceded in death by abrother, Judson Hoglan, and sister, JudithMiller.
