  According to a land deed of 1834, the original Purvis farm owned by settler George and Elizabeth Purvis was then left by the surviving "Widow Purvis" to three of her children : Jane, James, Elizabeth. The land transaction shows that Jane, Elizaberh and James deeded the farm to a nephew, Manley Alexander Purvis.
