Manuel Sanchez of Craig, died Monday, May 14, 2001, at TheMemorialHospital. He was 67.
On July 11, 1933, in Mt. Harris, he was born the son of SacramentoandMaria (Martinez) Morales. He grew up in Mt. Harris and attendedschooland graduated from Hayden High School. In 1956, he marriedCarmenHerrera. To this union were born two children, Steve and Sandra.
They were later divorced. Sanchez married Ruth Lavick on July 27,1971,in Elko, Nev. To this union was born a daughter, Kimberly.Sanchez andhis wife also raised their grandson, Christopher.
Sanchez worked for 25 years as a grocery clerk at BillsMarket/CityMarket and retired after 10 years at Tri State as awarehouseman.Following his retirement, he worked as caretaker atSherman Youth Camp.He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and camping. Sanchezwas a member of St.Michael's Catholic Church and a former member ofthe VFW.
Sanchez is survived by his wife, children, Steven (Linda) Sanchez,SandraClark, Kimberly (Chris) Rothermund, Stacey (Shawn) Gregg;brother, Pete(Grace) Morales, Herman (Billie) Sanchez, grandchildren,Chris, Amber,Austin, Lilly, Britney, Drew, and Rodney and severalnieces, nephews,great nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Daniel M. Sanchez and Joe(Pauline)Morello.
Prayer service was held Thursday, May 17, 2001 at 7 p.m. MassofChristian Burial was held Friday, May 18, 2001, at 10 a.m. at St.MichaelCatholic Church with celebrant Fr. Roger Lascelle.
Pallbearers were Steve Sanchez, Pat Herrera, Mike Sanchez, ChrisSanchez,Mike Lavick, Pete Morales, Norman Lopez and Chris Rothermund.
Honorary pallbearers were: Herman Sanchez, Mike Salazar Sr.,WendelMitchell, Joe Lavick, Dan Snow, Ray Perez, Tony Santisteven andFredSantisteven.
Burial was at the Craig Cemetery.
