- Alix Duran
MONTROSE - Alix Duran, of Montrose, died Friday evening, Oct. 22,2004,at the San Juan Living Center in Montrose 11 days aftercelebrating his84th birthday.
Alix, the son of Juan R. and Porfiria (Trujillo) Duran, was born onOct.11, 1920, in Capuline, Colo.
He was a veteran of World War II. Alix served four years with theUnitedStates Army and four years with the United States Navy.
He entered into marriage and a lifetime partnership with Maria M.Riveraon Nov. 19, 1951, in South Fork, Colo. Alix and Maria had thejoy andprivilege of sharing nearly 53 years of marriage.
Alix enjoyed fishing, traveling and especially spending time withhisfamily. He was a longtime member of St. Mary's Catholic Churchandenjoyed church activities.
Surviving family members who were blessed and honored to shareAlix'slife include his wife, Maria Duran, of Montrose; one son, DanielDuranand wife Julie, of Chico, Calif.; five grandchildren:Denise,Christopher, Danielle, Angie and Simone; twogreat-grandchildren: Enriqueand Mia; three sisters: Rosie Pollack, ofMonte Vista; Virginia andhusband Ginto Rivera, of Fruita; MargieDuran, of Monte Vista; as well asnumerous nieces and nephews.
Alix was preceded in death by both of his parents and one sister,AngieTrujillo.
Visitation for family and friends is scheduled for Tuesday, Oct. 26,from3 to 5 p.m. at the Montrose Valley Funeral Home Chapel.
A vigil service will take place on Tuesday, Oct. 26, at 7 p.m. atSt.Mary's Catholic Church in Montrose.
A Funeral Mass will be officiated on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 10 a.m.atSt. Mary's Catholic Church. Rite of committal will follow the Massin theValley Lawns Cemetery, south of Montrose.
Arrangements are being handled under the direction of the MontroseValleyFuneral Home, (970) 249-4400.
