JOHN, Jr.5 (641), b. in Lunenburg, Mass., May 15, 1766; m. about1788,Mary Fowler, b. Feb. 9, 1766; d. Oct. 3, 1841. He lived inCanaan, Me.,where he was an active and influential member of theBaptist Church,almost to the close of his long life. He lived on afarm which heprobably redeemed from the forest, about a mile and ahalf from thebridge on the Madison road. His nephew, Eben Weston, saysof him: "Johnwas a quiet man, who minded his own business, like allthe rest of myuncles, in due time he built a two-story house. Ibelieve that more ofhis descendants are now in business in Skowhegan,than of any of thoseearly settlers, who have been in these sketches."

MARY6 (15724), b. in Canaan, Me., Aug. 18, 1789; m. in 1806, Rev.Dr.John Dane, a graduate of Dartmouth College. He d. when about fiftyyearsof age, in Frederickton, N. B. of typhus fever. She m. (2)SamuelDinsmore and d. Apr., 1869. Children:
