- Vernon Wayne Conner Vernon Wayne Conner, 79, passed away at home after a lengthy illness.Vernon is survived by his wife of 32 years, Lorene and a sister, Goldie Duffy of Guide Rock, Nebraska. In addition to his wife,he is survived by10 step children, 30 grandchildren, 40 great-grandchildren and 17 great-great-grandchildren. Vernon was a 20 year Navy and Air Force Veteran. He served during Korea and Vietnam. Upon his retirement from military service, he worked for Montgomery Wards in Phoenix and Portland, Oregon retiring after 17 years. Vern and Lorene moved to Surprise,Arizona, at Happy Trails Resort. Vern was an avid RV traveler visiting most of the USA. He and Lorene took a cruise to Mexico with family and Panama Canal with friends. He was a member of Christ Church of the Valley where he served as a greeter and an usher. He was a member of the Moses Lake Masonic Lodge #174 and the Shriners.Memorial services will be held Thursday, May 15, 2008 at 1:30pm at Horizons Community Church located at14710 N. 79th Ave, Peoria, AZ. At a later date interment will be a tVeterans National Memorial Cemetery in Cave Creek, AZ. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Hospiceof the Valley.
