Services for John C. Cockrum of Lovington are scheduled for 2p.m.Saturday at Jackson Avenue Baptist Church in Lovington. The Rev.MikeElliott of Faith Baptist Church in Artesia will officiate. Burial will be at Lovington Cemetery. Cockrum, 49, passed away Oct. 16 in Lubbock, Texas. Cockrum was born Dec. 25, 1951, in Artesia to John L. Cockrum andNoraAgnes Cockrum. He married Norma Sue Patterson July 15, 1994, inPlains,Texas. He had lived in Lovington since 1989 and worked forBakerPetrolite for the past 15 years. He enjoyed music, poetry,music,hunting, fishing and his family. Survivors include: Norma Sue Cockrum of Lovington; three sons,RobbieMorris and Michael Morris of Lovington, John Michael Cockrum andwifeTerry of Texas; mother, Nora Agnes Cockrum of Artesia; twobrothers- andsisters-in-law, Jerry and Janet Cockrum of Vacaville,Calif., Steve andVirginia Cockrum of Artesia; sister andbrother-in-law, Charlotte andWarren Gleghorn of Artesia; onegrandchild, Michael and Samantha Cockrum. He was preceded in death by one son, James Clinton Cockrum and byhisfather, John L. Cockrum.
