Mr. Cazier was born in Nephi on April 4, 1860, a son of DavidCrockettCazier and Sarah Frances Mangun Cazier, who were among the 17familieswho settled Nephi. As a young man he married Mary Ann Parkes,and latermarried Grace McCune. He was an active member of the L. D. S.church,having served 13 years on missions. He had served in thenorthwesternstates, the southern states and the California missions ofthe L. D. S.church.

While serving as a memebr of the state legislature, Mr. Cazier was onthecommittee which selected the site for the University of Utah. Forseveralyears he operated a stone quarry near Nephi and also engaged inthe saltrefining industry with the Nebo salt works. Later he moved toAlberta,Canada, where he engaged in railroad contracting and roadconstructionwork.

Surviving are three daughters, Mrs. Maydell C. Palmer ofLedgebridge,Alberta; Mrs. Lila C. Richardson of Nephi, and Mrs.Frances C. Riddel ofSan Fernando, Cal., and a brother, Orson Cazier ofNephi.

NEPHI--Funeral services for Adelbert Cazier, who died last Thursday inaSalt Lake City hospital, were held in the Juab stake tabernacleSundayafternoon. President B. H. Roberts, of the First Council ofSeventiesrepresented the General Authorities at the services. Otherspeakers wereB. C. Powelton of Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada; and W. A.C. Bryan ofNephi. The opening and closing prayers were offered by MarkBigler and J.E. Lunt, both of Nephi.

Born in Nephi April 4, 1860, the son of David and Sarah FrancesMangumCazier, he spent his life here and was very prominent in civieandreligious circles. He was educated in the Nephi schools and in 1879wasmarried to Mary Ann Parkes. He was later married to Grace McCune.

Mr. Cazier, a contractor by profession was active in getting therailroadbuilt from Nephi to the canyon and on to the rock quarry whererock wasobtained for the building of the Deseret News building andMcCune mansionin Salt Lake City. He also built eight miles of theLemington cut-offrailroad, and was contractor for and built five milesof the Montanianrailroad which terminates at Livingston, Montana. Itwas by his effortsthat the Mt. Nebo Crystal Salt company wasorganized. Six years of hislife were spent in Canada where hecontracted and built the Milk Rivercanal.

Representing Juab county, Mr. Cazier was active in the statelegislaturefor one term. While there he acted on the committee whichselected thesite for the University of Utah. He was also a member ofthe UtahConstitutional convention held in Salt Lake iCty in 1896.

Mr. Cazier was an active and devout member of the L. D. S. Church.Hefilled a two and one-half years' mission in the Southern states, ashortterm mission in California and spent ten years in theNorthwestern Statesmission field. He was a member of the Juab stakehigh council and workedfor several years in the Y. M. M. I. A.
