I had access to the Crawford County Historical Book. In this book it lists Stephen Skaggs ( b 1834 - d. 1-15-1847) married to Manerva Hewit (b 1840) on January 29, 1850. The parents of Stephen Skaggs are listed as James W. Skaggs (b . 1790 - d. abt. 1855) and Celia (maiden name unkown) b. 1798 - d. 11-1869. Both parents are listed as being from Kentucky. I believe they are from Green County, Kentucky.

The reason I wrote you is I believe my great great grandfather (William "Bud" Evans) married the daughter of Jermiah and Mary "Jane " Skaggs and my gg grandfather's sister (Eliza Evans) married Thomas Jefferson Skaggs.
I'm not sure if this is any help to you, but if you would have any information concerning these people I would appreciate your help.
