Surrogate Court records have that Henry Colony died on or near 20 July 1864 in the town of Hornellsville, Steuben County, New York,intestate. Sarah Colony was appointed administrat (nix). Personal property was listed as $300, at the time of his death. Hornellsville is also where Henry's son, Edwin Colony enlisted in the Civil War. Records located in the Steuben County court minutes, orders, and decrees, book 3, page 162 and orders of administration orders book 7, page 72, and lettersof administration, book 5, page 132.

This is in line with the 20 July 1864 death date given in Surrogate court documents.
