Click photo to enlarge�1�Donald Ray Waldrip, 72, passed away onSaturday,Nov. 25, 2006, in Las Cruces. He was born March 5, 1934, inSnyder,Texas, to William Henry and Opal May (White) Waldrip. Donald Ray enjoyed his work in the logging business for many years.Hewas a very talented person, able to make guitars, violins andbanjos. Healso made many beautiful knives and hatchets. Everything hemade helearned on his own.
He loved the outdoors, getting together with his friends and playinghisinstruments. He also was in the process of building his ownairplane. Hewas almost half-way through when he got sick.
He is survived by his mother, Opal Daughtery, of Alamogordo; sonLonnieWaldrip, of Mullin, Texas; daughter Kitty McGowen, ofAlamogordo,grandson Justin Waldrip, of Mullin, Texas; sisters BillieClarke, of LaLuz, Jaydel Waldrip, of Temple, Texas, Bonnie Allen, ofConcord, Calif.,Deborah Waldrip, of La Luz and Willene Garver andhusband Ron, ofAlamogordo; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, William Henry Waldrip;andnephews William Tally Clarke, Perry Wayne Clarke and Scott Caswell.
A memorial service will by conducted at 10 a.m. at the Boles AcresFireStation on Thursday, Nov. 30,
