BIRD, JAMES, Hartford 1657, s. of Thomas the first, was adm. freem. 21 May of that yr. with his br. Joseph, m. Lydia Steele, perhaps d. of John of Farmington, whither he rem. had James; Thomas; Hannah; Rebecca; Lydia; Mehitable, bapt. 12 Mar. 1682; and Eliz. 23 Nov. 1684. He d. 1708; but his wid. Lydia liv. to 1759, as is said; no doubt, however, without truth. JAMES, Dorchester, s. of Thomas of the same, was a tanner, had w. Mary, and ch. James, bapt. 16 Feb. 1673; Eunice, 23 July 1682; Ebenezer, 10 Feb. 1684; a d. Bebee, 22 Aug. 1686; Priscilla, 20 May 1688; and Henry, 23 Mar. 1690; was freem. 1690, d. 1 Sept. 1733. NATHANIEL, Ipswich, had gr. of ld. 1641, yet prob.Farmer mistook the Christian name; and there was at I. that yr. a wid. B. JOHN, adm. freem. of Mass. 1645, of wh. I can find no more. JOHN, Dorchester, s. of Thomas of the same, m. Eliz. d. of Richard Williams of Taunton, had John, bapt. 14 Apr. 1672; Abiel, 27 Apr. 1673; Da- maris, b. 18, bapt. 19 Sept. 1675; Hannah, bapt. 23 Dec. 1677; a ch. wh. name is not seen, 16 May 1680; Eliz. 7 Jan. 1683; Deiton, a d. 23 Oct. 1687; and Silence, 2 Feb. 1690; was selectman 1694, 5 and 6, and d. 2 Aug. 1732. His w. had d. 20 Oct. 1724, aged 77. JOSEPH, Hartford, s. of the first Thomas, had Eliz., Samuel, Nathaniel,Thomas, James, Joseph, Mary, and Mindwell. In 1679 he liv. at Farmington, where the last nam. ch. was bapt. 27 Feb. 1681. SIMON, Boston, came 1635, aged 20, in the Susan and Ellen, from London, where he had learn. bad tricks, for in Oct. of that yr. he was sentenc. to bewhip.tho. not the worst of a set of boys, that ran away from their master, stolea boat, etc. See Col. Rec. I. 162. He liv. at Winisemit, or Rumney marsh, now Chelsea, was freem. 1644, but excommun. in July 1646, restor. soon after, and sober eno. to be made constable 1655, rem. to Billerica, there d. 7 July 1666. His will, of 4 Jan. preced. names sev. cousins, but no ch. and made his w. Mary extrix. THOMAS, Hart- ford, d. bef. 1653, leav. beside James and Joseph, bef. ment. two ds.wh. all mov. to Farmington, and there all four had fams. Thomas, Scitu- ate 1627, or later, tho. in his Hist. 221, Deane ment. a tradit. infavorof 1623, wh. he did not stigmatize as he should. THOMAS, Dorchester, 1640, by w. Ann, wh. d. 20 Aug. 1673, had Thomas, b. 4 May 1640, bapt. 18 July 1641; John, 11 Mar. 1642, bapt. that yr.; Samuel, 1644, bapt. that yr.; James, 1647; Sarah, bapt. 12 Aug. 1649, wh. d. 2 Apr. 1669; and Joseph, wh. d. 26 Sept. 1665. He made his will, 12 July 1666, and d. 8 June foll. in his 64th yr. THOMAS, Dorchester, eldests. of the preced. a tanner, m. 2 Apr. 1665, Thankful, d. of Humphrey Atherton, had Joseph, Thankful, Sarah, Thomas, Ann, Mary, Submit, and Mercy, all bapt. 24 June 1683, " the mo. very lately adm. to full commun."; Patience, 9 Dec. foll. and Benjamin, 6 June 1686, "then 2 or 3 mos. old." He was freem. 1690, and d. 30 Jan. 1710, and his wid. d. 11 Apr. 1719, aged 77 yrs. Of this name, in 1829, Farmer found gr. four at Yale, two at Harv. and two at other coll. in N. E.
