Notes |
- Another researcher has Elijah born 29 August, 1863, based on cemetery records.
1900 Green County Census also shows Elijah's birthdate as August, 1863
In the November 1905 edition of the Larue Herald the following: "The information has reached the Herald that at the voting precinctofthe participants, near Bloyd's post office in Green County, on lastTuesday, Elijah Warren and Chunk Durrett, son of Mr. James Durrett, became involved in an altercation, which resulted in Durrett's mortallywounding Warren by shooting him through the liver with a pistol. It is also, said that Durrett received a fractured skull by being struck with a club by Warren. The trouble was theculmination of a long standing personal feud and was in no wise connected to with political differences. Mr. Warren was well known to most of our citizens, having traded considerably with the merchants of our town in the past year. He was the son of Mr. Gabriel Warren, of Green County, and a brother to Mr. Thomas Warren, who once resided on the H & H turnpike in this county. He leaves a widow and three grown children, two sons and a daughter." His death was reported in the next issue of the paper.
