Dorothy Louise ?Granny? Skaggs, 85 Touched many lives Dorothy Louise ?Granny? Skaggs, 85, of Tularosa, left us on Nov.21,2004, at her home.
She was born Dec. 31, 1918, in the Cherokee Nation of Oklahoma.
Granny is survived by two daughters, Paula Kelly and her companionJimmyFierro, of Alamogordo, and Myrtle Roberts of Cleburn, Texas; heradoptedson, Haskell Hall of Tularosa; 18 grandchildren; 39great-grandchildren;eight great-great-grandchildren; two sisters,Agnus Weldy and BurleenHargess of Carlsbad; numerous nieces andnephews, including a specialniece, Dolly (Lil Reskell) Jameson; andfive special friends, ValieraHughey, Melba Walton, Ronni-GaleBalderama, Helen Maynez and Vicky(Maynez) Washington. Granny raised four nieces and nephews, Susie Hutchins and Ann FreemanofSilver City, David Skaggs of Missouri, and Billy Skaggs of Georgia.Sheraised an additional 83 kids throughout her lifetime. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dewey Paul Skaggs; bythreesons, Ernest Skaggs, Fred Skaggs and Donny Skaggs; her parents,Fred andAmandia Strawbridge; two brothers, Benny Strawbridge andWilliamStrawbridge; a grandson, Kenneth Skaggs; and agreat-grandson,Christopher Skaggs. Graveside services will be conducted Wednesday at 10 a.m. in theTularosaCemetery, where she will be laid to rest beside her husbandand sons.Pallbearers will be Gary Chaverria, Ramon Arambula, KennyJameson Jr.,Thomas Williams, Joe Hutchins and Haskell Hall. Honorarybearers are herloving grandsons, John Kelly, Martin Patrick Kelly III,James Maynes,Poncho Fierro, Davanta Graham, Eddie Wyatt, JeffHutchins, Mike Skaggs,Ernest (Jasper) Skaggs, Ray Skaggs, Paul Skaggs,Jimmy Skaggs, KennyJameson, Sr., Joe Skaggs, Robert Skaggs, ZakeSkaggs, and Brady Pipkin. In honor of Granny, Monty James Walton and Shelley Walton willbesinging. Granny touched many lives and will be loved and missed by all.
