  Funeral services were conducted Sunday afternoon at 3 o'clock fromtheZion Separate Baptist Church for Mr. Alex L. Shofner, who died atthehome of his daughter, Mrs. Otha Hiestand on Route 1, CaseyCreek,Saturday, September 21, 1963, after a short illness.  Serviceswereconducted by Rev. J. H. Bloyd with burial in the church cemetery.Mr.Shofner, 85, a retired farmer, was a resident of theMannsvillecommunity.  Since early in life he has been a member of theZion SeparateBaptist Church.  Sixty-two years ago he was united inmarriage to MissLaura Kathern Gaddie, who preceded him in death in1955.  He is survivedby the following children, Mrs. Otha Hiestand,Rt. 1, Casey Creek; Mrs.R. T. Cash, Rt. 4, City; Mrs. Hervie Dodson,Hodgenville; Mrs. TrumanThompson, Jeffersonville, Ind.; Mrs. CoraFrances of Long Island, N.Y.;Lonnie Shofner, Louisville; Fred Shofner,Winter Garden, Florida; andWalter Shofner, Mannsville.  Besideschildren, he is survived by onesister a! nd three brothers, Mrs. Sallie Price, City; Albert, West, andEnochShofner, all of Campbellsville; 26 grandchildren and56great-grandchildren.  Pallbearers were Don Marasa, Junior, ErnestandShirley Cahs, Lewis and Wayne Dobson.  ~The News-Journal,Thursday,September 26, 1963
