- Mr. William Shofner, of 612 Buckner Avenue, Campbellsville, formerlyofthe Poplar Grove Community, son of the late Mr. Robert Shofner andMrs.Susan Wright Shofner, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, October6,1877. He died at 1:50 p.m., Friday, September 30, 1972 at theTaylorCounty Hospital. Mr. Shofner was 94 years of age. He professedfaith inChrist early in life and was a member of the Poplar GroveUnitedMethodist Church. He united in marriage to Miss Maude AliceUnderwood in1901. She preceded him in death August 15, 1923. To thisunion fourdaughters and five sons were born. Surviving are: Mrs.Lennie SprowlesSquires of Campbellsville, Mrs. Nathan Helft, Mr. JamesShofner, and Mrs.Ralph Shofner, all of Indianapolis, Indiana, Mrs.Eileen Bosher and Mr.Carl Shofner, both of Nashville, Indiana, Mr.Alvy Shofner of Rockford,Illinois, Mr. Fred Shofner of Fresno,California, and Mrs. Evelyn Cloydof Houston, Texas. He is alsosurvived by twenty-one grandchildren;thirty-four great-grandchildren;and four great-great-grandchildren;several nieces and nephews.Funeral services were at 2:00 p.m., Sunday,October 2, at the Parrott &Ramsey Funeral Home in Campbellsvilleconducted by Rev. W. R. Beard.Burial was in Poplar Grove Cemetery.Pallbearers: Charles Sprowles, RexSprowles, Norman Sprowles, JerrySprowles, Russell Gray, and DonnieSprowles.
