- As a young boy, 14 years of age, George Congleton came with hisparentsand sixsiblings to Kansas from Indiana. They arrived on October16, 1877.He was engaged in farming with his father until 1887,whereupon he wentto Rawlins county to homestead his own land. In 1889, he was united in marriage to Miss Lillian Moore,Clifton,Kansasand to this union were born nine children. George wentwest on his ownandput up with hardships of a pioneer. He built a sodhouse on theprairie, and began raising cattle, he lived on his ranchuntil the early1920's, when he sold out and moved to Mc Donald, Kansaswhere he resideduntil his death. He died in Baldwin Park,Californiawhere he was visitinghis son, Allen.He body was returned to is home,and he was buried in theAtwood City Cemetery,Atwood,Rawlins,Kansas
