  Only one reference has been found of Veranus Allen, presumably thethirdborn of Abner and Patty Allen. In the U.S. Census Record in 1830,heappeared to havelost a wife. He was between 20-30 and had a malebetween0-5 and a female between 50-60 living with him. He mother,patty, who hadbeen widowed by the suicide of her husband, would havebeen 58 years ofage. Many young mothers died in childbirth in thistime period. Thehoushold was living in Madison Township, Geauga, Ohio.
