William Hatch, a native of England, settled on lot 14, con. 7, amilefrom Steele post office of later times, in 1832, which lot wasafterwardowned by Joseph Harrison. Mr. Hatch brough a bag ofsovereigns fromEngland with him when he came, and found it useful inhelping him throughthe pioneer days. His sons, Henry and RichardHatch, carpenters, livedfirst near Guthrie, and Henry afterward had awoodturning business in thecounty town. The first orchard in Oro grewfrom apple seeds which Mr.Hatch, sr., brought from England and plantedon the farm just mentioned
