  When eighteen years of age, she with her parents came to America. Crossing the ocean on the vessel Hibarnium. While at sea they encountered a terrific storm, which lasted twenty-four hours, during which they came in contact with a merchant ship, tearing a hole in their vessel, which badly disabled her. But through the courageous efforts of their captain and sailors, their ship was saved. After landing safely at New York, the Casbourne family continued their journey to St. Louis, Missouri.
