- Obadiah spent most of his life in Stamford, Ct. He was one ofthefounders of Bedford, NY., but returned to Stamford, selling his Bedford propertytoThomas Chambers by 1710. When Quenn Anne issued the patent in 1704 fortheDibble and Vinyard Purchase, Obadiah was among the 1st proprietors, alongwith Cornelius Seeley's, Sr and Jr. and Samuel Seeley. The VanCortlandtslater bought most of the share, but Obadieh is not listed among thoseselling.His grandsons John and Gideon moved to that area about 1760.
His will was dated Sep. 2, 1745; proved Oct. 1, 1745; inventory oftheestate Nov. 2, 1745. Mentions wife Susanna and children John,Nathaniel,Obadiah, Elijah and Susanna Bishop.
