Deceased Name: Otto Dublin Waldrip
Born May 19, 1917; Passed away Feb. 19, 2003; 85 years 9 months old Devoted husband, Dad, Granddaddy, Uncle, and teller of great stories, he served in the United States Army at Fort Sill, Oklahoma in the 77th field artillery HQ battery. He was a drill sergeant for the first draftees of WWII. He also served with radio and survey units and received medals for outstanding performance. While serving as a civilian at Dyess AFB, he received an award for creating a slide rule device, which was adopted nationwide, to simplify jet refueling.

Otto was last in a long line of siblings:
Half brothers and sisters (deceased): Dee, Tom, Leo, Mertie, Matt, Minnie, and Janie
Brothers and sister (deceased): Luke, Mark, Edison, and Rhodalee
He married Ethel Jennings August 8th, 1937 in Nocona, TX.
Children: Danny Earl (deceased March 12, 1939 – 1 day old), Otto James (deceased March 13, 2000) – wife Bonnie (deceased April 15, 2000), Elwyn Guy – wife Sue, and William Mack – wife Teddy
Grandsons: Kerry Kim – wife Kim, Nathan Geoffrey – wife Christi, Jason David and Damon Lane.
Great Grandchildren: Dakota James, Roni Nicole, Reagan Rochelle, David Michael, and other great grandchildren, step- grandchildren and step-great grandchildren.
He was a charter member of Woodlawn Church of Christ, and was a former member of Northside (Central) Church of Christ.
Services will be 2:00 p.m. Saturday at Woodlawn Church of Christ with Sonny Guild and Claud Parrish officiating. Burial will be in Elmwood Memorial Park directed by Elliott-Hamil Funeral Home, 542 Hickory. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Memorials may be sent to Woodlawn Church of Christ instead of flowers.
