  Colfax Record, Wednesday, 5-22-1991 George F. Bayne George F. Bayne, 86, a resident of Colfax for the past 73 years, passed away at Hilltop Manor Convalescent Hospital in Auburn on Saturday, May 18, 1991. A native of Ophir, Mr. Bayne was born at home at the 3 Star Mine on February 1, 1905. Before retiring, he was an equipment operator with Placer County for 35 years. He was a member of the PERS Chapter 30 in Auburn, a former member of the Colfax Odd Fellows, and Colfax Volunteer Fire Department. He also attended Placer High School in Auburn at the time when students traveled by train from Colfax to school. He was preceded in death by his wife, Lillian, in 1989. He is survived by: a cousin, Ed Viscia of Colfax, and sister-in-law, Betty Rodgers of Colfax. Funeral services will be held at Lassila's Sierra Chapel on Wednesday, May 22, 1991, at 10 AM. Private interment will follow in the Colfax District Cemetery.
