  Jacob served in the 1st German battalion of the continental army in the American Revolution. The Will of Jacob Bigler: Will book #4, page 234, Harrison County, West Virginia I Jacob Bigler being of sound mind and memory though aged calling mind the uncertainty of human life do constitute and declare this y last will and testament in manner and form following, that is to say, first, I will that my wife Hannah Bigler have and enjoy al andsingular my estate, real and personal and mixed for and during her natural life to use and dispose of according to her pleasure so conveyed. Second, that after her demise my three daughters, Sarah Ross, Ruth Whiteman and Maria Flowers, and if my daughter Sarah Ross should not survive her mother then and in that case her daughter Marian Whiteman shall have and enjoy her share.  That is to say that they each have one equal third part of all _____ Bed furniture, cubboard furniture and clothing of every part and all household furniture of every discription.  Thirdly, all the residue of my estate that shall remain at the death of my wife _______   _______ to my horses, cattle etc if what nature come I ask that it may be equally divided amongst my children male and female except my Grand daughter Charlotte Smith.  I will that she have half of an equal share with one of my children who live abroad and are not herein before named shall visit their mother during her lifetime if their mother shall think that any donation shall be necessary to make them equal with those that have lived near to us.  I will that she exercise her discretion which shall not be taken or considered as a part of their dividend after her demise unless it shall be so expressed by a receipt taken from each.  Fithly I do herby strictly enjoin it upon all my children viz Sarah Ross, Mark Bigler, Hannah McCowly, Ruth Whiteman, Anne Whiteman, Jacob Bigler, ____ Mariah Bigler Flowers have no ______ the division of my estate but if any difference or misunderstanding shall happen that such differences shall be dismissed by passing mutually ____ by them whose award shall in all cases be final.  Sixthly and lastly, I herby constitute and appoint my son-in-law Abel Whiteman, my executor of this my last will and testament hereby revoking and making null all former wills by me made; in testimony wherof I have hereunto set my hand and affixed my seal the Twenty-ninth day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand hundred and twentynine.
