- IN THE NAME OF GOD, AMEN. I John Outten of Somerset county in yeProvinceof Maryland, being very sick and weak of body but of perfectmemory,bless the name of the Lord, and knowing the uncertainty ofthistransitory life and willing to settle my temporal estate. In thefirst Igive and commit my soul to God who gave it, and my body to theearth fromwhence it came, to be decently buried at the discretion ofmy executrixhereafter named, and Doe believe in ye Resurrection of yebody and theremission of sins and the life everlasting and for allsins committed amheartily penitent for and hope the forgiveness of thesame and when allmy lawful debts being paid I give and bequeath mywill as followeth.
Imprimis - I give and bequeath to my loving son Thomas Outten mydwellingplantation to be made out 200 acres of land and marsh to bebounded bythe inlett adjoining next to William Selby and not to goover into thatmarsh formerly belonging to John Bishop called tansiefor any part ofsaid 200 A.
Secondly - I give and bequeath unto my loved son Samuel Outten 100 Aofland and marsh belonging to it so far as Pegg (or Prigg) Point andso tohave marsh along adjoining as ye woods bears in the 180A.
Thirdly - I also give and bequeath unto my loved son Abraham Outten100 Aof land to be laid out at the head of my tract my now dwellingplantationand beyond upon the division line of Thomas Selby and also50 A of marshcalled tansie formerly belonging to John Bishop.
Fourthly - I also give and bequeath unto my well loved son JohnOuttenall my lands and marsh belonging to me lying upon Moromacoecreek in theneck called Condocus onely excepted 50 A sould to PeterKersie as afterwill be mentioned.
Fifthly - In case my son John should depart this natural lifewithoutlawful begotten issue of his body then those lands and marshesbequeathedto him as Moromscoe (Maromsco) to be the right of my sonThomas to enjoyand the same my said son Thomas not to have any rightor claim to that200 A bequeathed him in this will of my now dwellingplantation but thesaid 200 A of land and marsh to be equally dividedbetwixt my two sonsSamuel and Abraham and in case that my Thomasshould die without lawfulissue begotten of his body and should notsurvive his brother John thenthat 200 A bequeathed him in this will tobe equally divided betwixt mytwo youngest sons Samuel and Abraham.
Sixthly - I give and bequeath unto Peter Kersie 50 A of marsh beingatthe West end of Patent called Discovery lying upon a creek calledEasecreek near a Sandie beach.
Seventhly - All my land bequeathed in this will to my four belovedsons,Vizt. Thomas, Samuel, Abraham and John, shall enjoy, dispose,make saleas to them shall seem meet as they attain to age and to enjoythe same tothem their heirs forever.
Eightly - In case my two eldest sons should die without lawfulissuebegotten of their bodies then my youngest sons Samuel to enjoymydwelling plantation at (B?) Pocotenorton with all the lands, marshesandprivileges and my son Abraham all my lands, marshes and allprivilegesthereunto belonging Moromscoe.
Ninthly - It is my will that if my wife now going with child shouldhavea son that every son (Vizt) Thomas, Samuel and Abraham and Johnshallcontribute 200 pounds of tobacco each of ye and if it pleasethGod to bea girl then each to allow 500 pounds of tobacco towards themaintenancenot cutting it of her of his due proportion of my principalestate.
I doe nominate and appoint my loved wife Mary Outten to be my wholeandsole executrix to see this my will performed this my first and lastwilland testament as witness my hand and seal. SIGNED SEALED AND DELIVERED
