Don C. Holmstead of Hurricane, Utah passed away on Friday, October 29, 2010 in Murray, Utah at the home of his daughter, surrounded by his family.
Don was born on Sept. 17, 1928 in Lehi, Utah, the son of Donnette and Clarence O. Holmstead. He attended schools in Lehi, Utah graduating in 1945 from Lehi High School. While at Lehi High School he participated in track, football and basketball, lettering in all three.
In 1945, at age 17, Don joined the Army. He served in Alaska during the last part of World War II testing winter equipment with the Fridged Task Force. He returned home in 1947 to continue his education at BYU.
In 1950, he married Colleen Ingram. Together they had two children, Debra Wray (deceased) and Tony D. Holmstead. Their marriage ended in 1954.
In 1956 Don met Myrna Ingram. They married that same year in Elko, Nevada. Together they had two children; Chris O. Holmstead and Stacy Holmstead Beall.
Don was a successful automobile salesman for over 34 years. He appreciated all of his faithful customers and attributed his success to them. He was a man of many talents who loved fishing, golfing and traveling. With his wife Myrna he traveled to many different states and countries.
Don is survived by his wife Myrna Holmstead. His children; Tony D. Holmstead, Chris O. Holmstead and Stacy (Sam) Beall. His sister; Sharlene (Alan) Walker, brother, Randy (Janene) Holmstead, thirteen grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Debra Holmstead.
There will be a memorial service held in his honour at the Murray Park Church of Christ (494 East 5300 South, Murray, Utah) on Saturday, November 6, 2010 at 1:00 p.m.
